Authentication methods change, dependencies evolve, new vulnerabilities appear, APIs grow, integrations multiply, and every additional access path needs to be reviewed over time.

That continuous work is a major focus of EasyDCIM v1.29.0.

This strategic release retires API v2, introduces scoped API tokens, strengthens authentication and session handling, expands the Advanced Firewall, and brings another round of security improvements across EasyDCIM, Remote Agents and the Client Area.

Many of these changes will happen quietly in the background. That is exactly the point. We keep strengthening the platform so your team can stay focused on running infrastructure and growing the business around it.

API v2 reaches the end of the road

API v2 has been deprecated for several months, with advance notice and migration guidance available in its documentation. With EasyDCIM v1.29.0, that transition is now complete.

This requires attention before updating. The update removes all existing API v2 keys, and requests made through API v2 will no longer authenticate. Any integration that still depends on API v2 needs to be migrated to API v3 before upgrading to EasyDCIM v1.29.0.

Retiring the legacy API allows us to remove an older authentication path rather than maintaining it indefinitely alongside the newer API generation. It also lets us continue building future integrations around a single, more secure foundation.

BEFORE YOU UPDATE: You can find everything required to prepare your integrations in our API v2 to v3 migration guide.

Less privilege, more control for API integrations

Moving integrations to API v3 also brings much tighter control over what individual credentials are allowed to do.

New API tokens can now be created with read-only or read-write access, restricted to selected permissions and assigned an expiration date. EasyDCIM can also remind administrators when a token is approaching its expiry.

This makes it possible to follow a simple security principle: an integration should receive only the access it actually needs. A monitoring system can remain read-only, an automation workflow can be limited to the operations it performs, and temporary credentials no longer have to remain valid indefinitely.

Existing API v3 tokens continue to work as full-access tokens, but they are now marked as deprecated. This avoids unnecessarily disrupting existing integrations while giving administrators a clear path toward replacing broad credentials with more precisely scoped ones.

Security should follow every way into the platform

A secure password on the main login page is only one part of the picture. Modern infrastructure platforms can be accessed through APIs, OAuth, administrator sessions, client impersonation, remote consoles and automated installation workflows.

EasyDCIM v1.29.0 strengthens those access paths together rather than treating them as separate problems.

The Two-Factor Authentication v1.2.1 extension now applies two-factor checks to API and OAuth logins as well. Previously used verification codes can no longer be reused, while OAuth authentication is additionally secured with PKCE.

Login As Client now requires password confirmation before access is granted, and the resulting session lasts for 15 minutes. Remote Agent installation commands follow the same principle by using single-use tokens valid for only 30 minutes.

Remote console access has been tightened too. With the IPMI Integration v1.5.13 extension, noVNC consoles now open through one-time tickets and operate within a defined maximum session lifetime.

Administrators should not have to continuously check whether another login path has fallen behind the security of the rest of the platform. Keeping those layers aligned is part of maintaining EasyDCIM as a whole.

A firewall you can introduce without flying blind

The Advanced Firewall receives one of its most significant updates yet with two clearly separated operating modes.

Detection Only, enabled by default, records requests matched by the firewall without rejecting them. This allows administrators to observe real traffic and understand how the rules behave in their environment before moving to active enforcement.

Blocking mode goes one step further and rejects requests that exceed the configured OWASP Core Rule Set anomaly threshold.

Firewall configuration has also been moved to a dedicated settings page, together with information about default allowed IP addresses and the location of the audit log.

Just as importantly, v1.29.0 addresses what happens after initial configuration. The firewall no longer turns itself off after an EasyDCIM update or container restart. Forged X-Forwarded-For (XFF) headers can no longer bypass inspection, while legitimate API v3 PUT, PATCH and DELETE requests are no longer incorrectly flagged.

Security controls only provide value when they remain effective after the next update, configuration change or restart. This release closes several of those gaps automatically.

Identity changes now follow the directory

Accounts that should no longer have access should not depend on someone remembering to disable them in several different systems.

The LDAP Authentication v1.0.2 extension can now synchronize account status with Active Directory, FreeIPA and OpenLDAP.

When a user is disabled or removed from the organization’s directory, the corresponding EasyDCIM account can be deactivated as well. For environments with centralized identity management, this helps ensure that EasyDCIM continues to reflect the same source of truth used across the rest of the organization without adding another manual offboarding step.

API v3 keeps expanding beyond authentication

API v3 is becoming more capable at the same time as it becomes more secure.

The Switch Management v1.4.5 extension introduces API v3 endpoints for reading and changing switch port speeds on Arista vEOS, Cisco NX-API, Juniper Junos and MikroTik devices.

Remote Agent v1.24.0 extends the hardware-side support as well, adding Cisco NX-API and MikroTik port speed changes and reading the configured port speed on Arista vEOS, Cisco NX-API and MikroTik devices to confirm changes performed through API v3.

This continues the shift toward API v3 as the primary interface for building infrastructure automation around EasyDCIM.

Everyday administration gets a little faster

Security is the main theme of this release, but EasyDCIM v1.29.0 also includes several improvements aimed at everyday infrastructure work.

Quick Search now includes Ports, Monitors, Power Devices and Colocation, while the IP Address Management v1.8.13 extension adds parent subnet suggestions and exact VLAN number searches.

OS provisioning receives an important reliability fix as well. Updated templates in the OS Installation v2.4.3 extension now install Debian and Proxmox VE on the first non-empty disk. This prevents an empty device such as virtual media, a USB slot or an SD slot from being selected ahead of the actual installation target.

These improvements may be smaller individually, but they remove friction from workflows administrators perform repeatedly.

The work you should not have to think about

Some of the most important changes in EasyDCIM v1.29.0 will never appear as a new button in the interface.

The EasyDCIM and Remote Agent Docker environments now use PHP 8.3.36 and Laravel 13.38, together with dependencies containing current security fixes. This continues the security work covered in our initial PHP vulnerability advisory and the follow-up published after the official fixes became available. PHP session upload progress has also been disabled to mitigate CVE-2026-115560.

Remote Agent security has been tightened further by keeping IPMI passwords out of process lists, accepting API keys only through headers, using a dedicated database account and masking SNMP community strings and other secrets in logs.

EasyDCIM itself now refuses root database accounts, protects system keys more carefully and performs additional validation of data received from Remote Agents.

Connection secrets used by the DNS Management v1.4.3 extension are now encrypted in the database and removed from event logs. Existing stored values and historical entries are secured automatically during the update.

This is the kind of work that illustrates an important difference between having software that works today and having a platform that is continuously maintained for tomorrow.

Building infrastructure software is becoming faster than ever. Maintaining it securely over years is a different challenge. Frameworks change, dependencies need updates, new attack paths emerge, and security assumptions that were reasonable yesterday may no longer be enough tomorrow.

Our job is to keep following those changes so our customers do not have to.

Remote Agent and Client Area move in step

Remote Agent v1.24.0 accompanies the platform release with additional security hardening and broader hardware support. American Megatrends servers can now be discovered and polled through Redfish, while noVNC sessions, OS installation workflows, API communication and logging receive additional safeguards.

Client Area v2.0.7 adopts the new one-time noVNC tickets and strengthens OAuth sign-in by requiring authentication to finish in the same browser in which it started. It also uses the new public Client Area configuration path introduced in EasyDCIM v1.29.0.

Keeping these components aligned matters because the security of a platform is ultimately determined by the complete path through it, not only the application at its center.

Security and control that keep up

EasyDCIM v1.29.0 is not built around one headline feature. It is about continuously reducing unnecessary trust across the entire platform.

API credentials become narrower. Authentication becomes harder to reuse or bypass. Sessions become shorter-lived. Directory changes propagate automatically. The firewall becomes more predictable. Secrets are handled more carefully. Runtime dependencies move forward with their security fixes.

Some of this is visible to administrators. Much of it intentionally is not.

Your team should be able to concentrate on the infrastructure, services and customers that grow your business rather than continuously auditing whether the platform underneath them still follows today’s security practices.

That responsibility belongs with us.

EasyDCIM v1.29.0 is another step in making sure that when the security landscape changes, the platform changes with it.

If your environment still uses API v2, migrating those integrations to API v3 should be the first step before updating. You can review the migration guidance here.

These are the highlights of the release.
